Checking your Verizon Online account settings with Outlook Express 5 - 6 on Windows
- Start Outlook Express.
- From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
- Select the Mail tab, then click once on your Verizon Online mail account.
- Click Properties.
- In the General tab, verify your name and e-mail address.
- Select the Servers tab.
- Verify the following settings:
- In the Incoming mail (POP3) field, type incoming.verizon.net.
- In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field, type outgoing.verizon.net.
- In the Account name field, type your Verizon Online user name.
- In the Password field, type your Verizon Online password.
- Verify that Log on using Secure Password Authentication is not selected.
- Verify that My server requires authentication is selected.
- Select Settings.
- Verify Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected, then select OK.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Verify that the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server port number is set to 25.
- Verify that the Incoming Mail (POP3) server port number is set to 110.
- Verify the option Leave a copy of messages on server is not selected.
- Click OK.
- Click Close to close the Internet Accounts window.
