How To Fix Internet Explorer Browser Link Not Opening Link Window
Windows Internet Explorer Browser Link Windows
Posted by sportsautographs1 (Member # 1211) on May 26, 2004, 17:50:
I need some help please. Recently, whenever I click on any website link that pulls up a separate window it will not work. The other window for the link starts to come up but you can't see anything in the window. Also, the internet explorer icon in the window never turns dark blue like a normal window. Lastly, the hour glass sign stays on like it is trying to load. I waited for over 5 minutes and no link will load. Can someone please help me fix this? I am guessing I am missing a DLL file, but am not sure. Thank you, Bill

OK, what version of IE are you using.
1st thing I would suggest is to Delete all cookies.
Tools > Internet Options > Delete cokkies.

In Add/Remove Programs, highlight Internet Explorer 6SP1 and click Remove. In the box that pops up, choose Repair Internet Explorer.

I tried that too. Still no luck. I think what happened is I downloaded a program (to burn cd's) a few days ago. I went to remove the program (uninstall) it using the typical add/remove programs. I may have missed where it said upon removing the program that it was sharing a file that was still in use with another program. Not sure. I think this is what is going on. Any ideas? Thank you, Bill

I see these four files folders in my temporary internet folder content. These are the names of the files:
4xu7kd23
dns1hvsn
gpn1m65j
mzetovcv
They may be programs. When I get ready to delete them I get a message that they are programs> I may be deleting a program I need.
I did go to tools, internet options, etc and deleted cookies & offline content already. Still no luck.

Boot into safe mode and delete them.
I can find no reference to them at all.
Just one of those crazy Temp folder names...

I meant Boot to safe mode and delete the above files,
they are not programs.
Let me know if you do that.

sports,
Upgrade IE from v6.1 to v6.4.
Then upgrade it with Service Pack of version 6.4.

sports,
What is the exact version of IE6? Go to browser-help-About Internet Explorer. Is the SP1 installed?
Is there any change of the computer made prior to the problem? E.g installation or uninstallation.
Any firewall installed?
Give us an example of link that it does not work.
Use CTRL-ALT-DEL to inspect what kinds of programs running at the background. Please list for our further study.

6.0.2800.1106IC. Update version SP1.
Yes, I uninstalled a program. Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the program. It was a program to help burn mp3's to cd's.
No firewall.
I am not sure if this is related to this problem, but I am getting an error at this site:
http://www.bbbonline.org/consumer/index.aspx
The error is a rundll error:
C:\PROGRA~1\YAHOO!\COMMON\YMMAP1.DLL (I can't tell for sure what the letter or number is after YMMAP for sure)
Yahoo games doesn't work. Yahoo sports doesn't work. It's not JUST Yahoo. I just can't remember some of the other links that do not work. It is basically any link that pulls a new window up. No links work.
Thanks, Bill

Sport,
It has come to a question. "open a new window" for the link has related to use the
C:\PROGRA~1\YAHOO!\COMMON\YMMAP1.DLL
In default windows, there is no YMNAP1.DLL needed.
If you go to Windows Explorer and right click the YMMAP1.DLL. What is the description of the name of this DLL and the company.
Is your browser changed from normal IE to Yahoo's browser?

Hi Patricia,
I did see where YMMAP1.DLL was a Yahoo Messenger file.
But please carry on

Patricia,
I do not see the exact file located here:
C:\PROGRA~1\YAHOO!\COMMON\YMMAP1.DLL
There is a common folder with several other Yahoo files. (P. S. - I used to have Yahoo DSL. This is probably why I have these files.)
I think it can't find this exact above DLL in order to open this particular page. I wonder if this is somehow hooked into my internet explorer browser window.
I am using the regular internet explorer browser. I did have a Yahoo browser when I had DSL which was only about a month ago.
I am still leaning toward a DLL library file missing. Any ideas? Thanks, Bill

All I needed was this link:

I am having this same problem as the above poster. Would like to know where the message from the other forum was that solved his problem. Since my problem is the same, when I click on the link microsoft download, the page won't load. Tryed to copy and paste, but that tells me page not found. Thanks for any help.
