1. XPInfo compares the current hardware configuration - as seen by the WPA mechanism - to the hardware configuration at the time of product activation and displays the components in which the configurations differ.
2. XPInfo thus does not work with installations of XP that do not require activation, i.e. volume-licensed installations or installations of OEM versions.
3. In addition, XPInfo displays the first fifteen letters and digits of the product key used for installing XP. This is pretty handy for re-installations if you run XP on more than one computer and do not remember which key you used for which computer.
4. Since XPInfo is based on undocumented functionality, any upgrade of your operating system potentially breaks this version of XPInfo.
5. Invoke "XPInfo.exe" to use the utility. A dialog box containing the configuration information and the product key will appear.
6. A check mark indicates that the corresponding hardware component has not been removed, replaced or newly added since product activation.
7. If a hardware component is not present in the current hardware configuration, it will look dimmed, i.e. it will be displayed in a light grey font instead of the usual black font.
8. For suggestions or bug reports contact the Fully Licensed techies at tech@licenturion.com. Although they work on XPInfo in their spare time, they try their best to support this tool.
